To provide an optical pickup of which the constitution is simple, which requires no specific optical parts, of which the manufacturing is easy, and which is shared for a plurality of systems.
This optical pickup is provided with laser sources 201-1, 201-2 which is used for a CD-DVD composite system and emits luminous flux having different wavelength mutually, a pickup lens 204 converging each of these luminous flux on an information recording layer 205a of corresponding CD205 or the DVD, and a light detector 207 receiving reflected light of the information recording layer 205a. The lens 204 consists of a refractive index distribution type optical transmission body of which the refractive index is reduced continuously forward the outer periphery from the center axis X and which has a cylindrical type, the lens has wavelength scattering in the refractive index, and length is set so that each of luminous flux is converged on the information recording layer 205a of the corresponding CD205 or the DVD. The CD or the DVD is arranged at the prescribed position at which plans of a light incident side are shared.
