To provide an optical pickup device preventing displacement of an attachment position of a light receiving element irrespective of environmental change such as that in temperature or secular change after the light receiving element is joined to an optical pickup base part.
The optical pickup device includes: the optical pickup base part with an opening part formed thereon by which reflected light from an optical disk passes therethrough to the outside; the light receiving element having a nearly rectangular plate shape for converting the reflected light passing through the opening part into an electric signal; and a holder holding the light receiving element so that its side face is surrounded and the light receiving surface of the light receiving element is brought into contact with an outer wall of the periphery of the opening part so as to face the opening part. In the optical pickup base part and the holder, the holder is slidably formed along a first axis parallel to the outer wall. In the holder, the light receiving element is slidably formed along a third axis orthogonal to a second axis perpendicular to the outer wall and the first axis and parallel to the outer wall.
