To greatly increase the strength and to enhance the reliability by forming ribs, etc., which are reinforcement by pressing, etc., of flat planar materials having wiring patterns formed thereon, thereby forming an optical base.
A base material on which the wiring patterns 5 are formed, is worked to have a proscribed shape by pressing to form the optical base 1. The inner peripheral side rib 7 and a side wall 8 on the outer peripheral side are formed by pressing, by which the sufficient strength is assured. A light emitting and receiving unit 3 is previously held in a prescribed position by using a positioning jig and connecting terminals 17 corresponding to connecting pins are soldered in this state, by this the connection between the respective terminals is established and simultaneously the light emitting and receiving unit 3 is fixed. The position of the light emitting and receiving unit 3 is assured with high accuracy by using jigs and is fixed by the solder, thereby, the positional errors of the unit mounting part can be absorbed. Namely, the light emitting and receiving unit 3 can be mounted with high accuracy at the unit mounting part of relatively low working accuracy.
