Abstract:
PURPOSE:To detect position information of a mobile body as a continuous variable by inclining a slit at an angle to the moving direction of the mobile body and relatively moving a light projector, a photodetector, and the slit in accordance with movement of the mobile body. CONSTITUTION:The light beam projected from a light projector 5 passes a slit 2a and is made incident on elements 6a and 6b of a light beam position detector 6 and is converted to electric signals, and they are inputted to a differential amplifying circuit 13 and an adding circuit 14 through current-voltage converting circuits 11 and 12. When a mobile body 1 is placed in the zero point position, the centroid of energy of the light beam is on the boundary between elements 6a and 6b and outputs of elements 6a and 6b are in the same level, and the level of the position signal outputted from the circuit 13 is zero. When a slit plate 2 is moved in the direction of an arrow A in accordance with movement of the mobile body 1, the quantity of incident light on the element 6a is reduced because the slit 2a is inclined upward in the direction of the arrow A, and the quantity of incident light on the element 6b is increased. Then, the level of the position signal outputted from the circuit 13 is raised in the positive direction, and the position of the mobile body 1 is detected by this level.
