PURPOSE: To improve production yield by forming a reading part and a wiring part on different substrates having substantially the same thickness.
CONSTITUTION: A reading means 11 contains the 1st long-size substrate 12 and the 2nd long-size substrate 13 which is set approximately in parallel to the substrate 12 on the same plane. A fiber lens array 14 is set under the substrate 12, and LED arrays 15 are set at both sides of the array 14 respectively. A read sensor part, a common electrode and an individual electrode are formed on the substrate 12; while a multi-layer wiring part connected to both the common and individual electrodes on the substrate 12 is provided on the substrate 13. The reading part of the substrate 12 is connected electrically to the wiring part of the substrate 13 by the aluminum wire bonding 20. Thus the reading part and the wiring part are formed independently of each other, and only nondefective products of both parts can be mounted.
