Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To individually improve CMRR for each channel.SOLUTION: An optical receiver for coherent communication includes: a photodiode array PDA for outputting two of in-phase/reversed-phase input photocurrent signals by converting two of in-phase/reversed-phase optical signals on an arbitrary channel, obtained by demodulating an input signal light, with two photodiodes PD corresponding to each photocurrent signal; and a transimpedance amplifier IC, having a built-in variable gain transimpedance amplifier whose gain difference between positive and negative input is adjustable, for outputting a received voltage signal on the channel by differentially amplifying two input photocurrent signals outputted by the photodiodes PD. A variable gain amplifier, included in the transimpedance amplifier IC, differentially amplifies two input photocurrent signals outputted by the photodiodes PD after adjusting the gain difference, and outputs the amplified signal.
