PURPOSE: To provide an optical recording element excellent in light stability and heat stability and improved in light excitation efficiency by using a recording thin film containing fullerene molecules.
CONSTITUTION: The upper part of a conductive substrate 1 is covered with a polypyrrole thin film 2, and fullerene molecules 3 are taken into the polypyrrole thin film 2 and dispersed therein. That is, this optical recording element has a recording thin film with the fullerene 3 dispersed in a high polymer with toner property or acceptor property or a high polymer with donor property or acceptor property material. When laser beams are radiated to the recording thin film containing the fullerene from a semiconductor laser, an He-Ne laser, an Ar laser, or the like, the fullerene absorbs light so as to be excited, and electrons are pulled out with high efficiency from the excited fullerene molecules 3 or pigment molecules. There is also a case of the excited fullerene acting as a donor. As a result of such charge-transfer, an irradiated part is colored to perform recording.
