Title:
OPTICAL RECORDING MEDIUM AND INFORMATION PROCESSING APPARATUS
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2004030848
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To provide an apparatus for appending and rewriting data to a recordable optical disk for providing an inter-block linking system that has compatibility between excellent interchangeability with a read only optical disk and random accessible performance at recording and reproduction.

This invention provides an optical recording medium wherein random access purpose buffer areas (data run-in DRi and data run-out DRo) are arranged before and after each of blocks (BLK, BLK1 and BLK2) and no idle buffer area is caused by recording data overlappingly to respective buffer areas of a new block and an existing block in the case of starting to record data to the new block. Then the buffer areas, to which a signal pattern for phase lock loop, automatic gain adjustment at data reproduction and for automatic adjustment of a light source power and a signal pattern used for detecting a synchronization pattern, production of a recovered clock and end of block reproduction are recorded, are used for various purposes.
