PURPOSE: To increase obtained tracking signals and at the same time to improve the mass producibility of optical recording media by forming a tracking groove of a pattern shape to a track layer with the difference of wetting properties secured between the groove bottom part and the surface of the track layer and coating a recording layer selectively on the inside of the groove or the surface of the track layer.
CONSTITUTION: A recording layer 5 is formed selectively on the inside (hollow) of a tracking groove formed to a track layer 4 or the surface of the layer 4 (projection). In this case, the difference of wetting properties is secured between the bottom part of the groove and the surface of the layer 4. For this purpose, either one of the groove bottom part or the surface of the layer 4 is made lyophilic with the other made repellent to the coating solvent of the layer 5. In this case, the layer 5 is not formed on the repellent part and coated only on the lyophilic part. Thus the layer 5 is formed continuously or dispersely on the inside the groove or on the surface of the layer 4 in the form of continuous or dispersed projected parts.
