Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve a compression rate at the time of conducting predictive coding of voice signals.
SOLUTION: A five channel correlating circuit 1 converts five channel signals (L, C, R, SL and SR) into correlated five channel signals L and D1 to D4. Predicting circuits 15L and 15D1 to 15D4 compute a plurality of prediction values for every one of the signals L and D1 to D4 and compute predictive residuals of these prediction values. Buffer/selectors 16L and 16D1 to 16D4 select the minimum value of the predictive residuals.
