To provide an optical recording medium capable of recording information by the irradiation of a blue color laser beam or a blue-violet color laser beam, and also, capable of withstanding long-term storage.
The optical recording medium is composed of a substrate, in which a track 13 for forming a recording mark is formed at a track pitch in the range of 0.1-0.5 μm, and a recording layer formed on the substrate in which the optical characteristics are changed by the irradiation of the laser beam. The recording layer is substantially made of Ag, Cu, and O. A ratio of the number of atoms of Ag, Cu, and O is a ratio in a polygonal region in which an A point (Ag 1%, Cu 48%, and O 51%), a B point (Ag 9%, Cu 35%, and O 56%), a C point (Ag 21%, Cu 25%, and O 54%), a D point (Ag 45%, Cu 14%, and O 41%), an E point (Ag 51%, Cu 18%, and O 31%), an F point (Ag 37%, Cu 42%, and O 21%), a G point (Ag 18%, Cu 63%, and O 19%), and an H point (Ag 1%, Cu 71%, and O 28%) are made as the apexes in the ternary system phase-diagram.
