Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To stabilize tracking in recording even if a tracking pitch is reduced for a recording beam diameter by optimizing the recording beam diameter, pitch, groove shape and dye structure.
SOLUTION: In the optical recording medium having a metal reflecting layer on a recording layer containing dye for absorbing laser beam on a base plate formed with a spiral groove, when the diameter of the recording beam is r, the pitch of the groove is Pμm, the depth is dsubμm, dye film thicknesses of the groove and land are dg, deμm, refractive index of the recording layer with a wavelength λ is nabs, and refractive index of the plate is nsub, 0.66r≤P≤0.89r, 0.12r≤d'sub≤0.20r, and 1.8≤nsub≤2.7. And, optical phase difference (T) = 2[nsub.dsub + nabs] (dl-dg)/λ is 0.13≤ΔT≤0.41, dg-dl≤dsu. Further, the dye contained in the recording layer is azo compound or its metal complex represented by a formula.
