Abstract:

PURPOSE: To obviate the oxidation of a thin recording film and to prevent the deterioration in the properties of the thin recording film by an adhesive agent by covering the entire surface of the thin recording film with protective films consisting of a specific oxide, sulfide, fluoride, carbide, and nitride having required characteristics.

CONSTITUTION: The thin recording film 3 consisting of Te-Sn-ZnS between acrylic resin substrates 1 and 1a is coated over the entire surface inclusive of a central hole 5 side as well with the protective films 2, 2a consisting of at least one material among the oxide, sulfide, fluoride, carbide, and nitride of the materials having the m.p. higher than the m.p. of the film 3 and small hygroscopicity so that the direct contact with an adhesive layer 14 is averted. The optical recording medium which obviates the oxidation of the thin recording film even at and under a temp. and high humidity and the deterioration in the properties of the thin recording film and has the high reliability and stability is obtd.
