Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase the recording information density without changing largely the technology on recording pit arranging density, drive and head by equipping plural kinds of recording pits concerning dimension in the direction vertical to the surface of a substrate.
SOLUTION: On the substrate 2 consisting of polycarbonate, etc., tracks of recording pits are formed by the technology of ejecting molding, etc., using a stamper to constitute the optical reproducing medium. In this case, two kinds of shapes of a recording pit 3 consisting of a recess in the direction vertical to the substrate surface and a recording pit 3' consisting of projection are used as a mixture for the recording pits. Moreover, a magnetic film 1 having a main component of TbFeCo is formed on the substrate surface arranged with the recording pits 3 and 3' to constitute the recording surface. At the time of reproducing a record with linear polarized light, since the recessed recording pit 3 is larger in output if the polarizing direction is parallel to the track, and the projected recording pit 3' is larger in output if the polarizing direction is vertical to the track, the two kinds of recording pits 3 and 3' are discriminated by this.
