Abstract:

PURPOSE: The titled composition with improved double refraction, comprising a specified polymer having 4-methyl-1-pentene as a principal monomer component.

CONSTITUTION: An optical resin composition is obtained by adding 5W0wt% additive such as a plasticizer (e.g., 2-ethylhexyl phthalate) and an ultraviolet ray absorber (e.g., a phenyl o-hydroxysalicylate type compound) is added to 95W 100wt% resin having an MI of about 30g/10min and a glass transition point of above 120°C as measured according to ISO R-1133 test method under conditions of 230°C and 5kgf and containing 50W100wt% 4-methyl-1-pentene and 50W0wt% other monomers (e.g., styrene). Then, this composition is formed into optical elements by compression molding, injection molding or the like.
