Abstract:

PURPOSE: To enable the expansion of a usable wavelength range and short time- resolving power by a method where laser beam is allowed to be incident on an optical parametric oscillator and output beam is divided into a plurality of beams to control light path length and the divided beams are condensed and detected to perform measurement.
CONSTITUTION: The output beam of a laser 1 is passed through second and third harmonic generators 2, 3 to obtain third harmonic which is allowed to be incident on an optical parametric oscillator 4 to obtain signal beam and idler beam as the photon pair as the output of the oscillator 4 and one of photons is selected by a wavelength filter 5 to be allowed to be incident on a degeneracy four-beam mixed system 8 and divided into beams A, B, C by beam splitters 9, 10 and the beams A, B, C are respectively reflected by mirrors 11-16 or corner reflectors 17, 18 to be condensed to a sample 20 by a lens 19. At this time, the reflectors 17, 18 control the delay time (light path length) of the beams B, C to the beam A. The output signal beam of the mixed system 8 is detected by a photomultiplier 23 and an intensity change is calculated and recorded by a boxcar integrator 27. As a result, a response time can be measured within the wide wavelength range of 450-1700nm and short time-resolving power from picosecond to sub-picosecond can be realized.
