Abstract:
To provide an optical scanner capable of reducing the accident that a user feels dazzling due to an abnormal light emission of a light source at startup.SOLUTION: The optical scanner includes: a light source; and a light quantity adjusting member 61 that changes the scan light quantity by changing a light reduction unit located on an optical path, of a plurality of light reduction units 61a and 61b having different light transmittances. The optical scanner optically scans a scan object surface using the light coming from the light source through the light quantity adjusting member 61. The optical scanner includes detecting means 65 for detecting the existence of the light quantity adjusting member 61 at a prescribed position. At startup, on the basis of the detection result by the detecting means 65, the optical scanner positions, on the optical path, a predetermined light reduction unit 61b, which is a predetermined light reduction unit having a transmittance other than a maximum transmittance, of the plurality of light reduction units 61a and 61b, and then starts the light emission of the light source.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 7
