To provide an optical scanner which is low-cost and compact and has high image quality by adjusting the inclination and curvature of scanning line, using a simple constitution with only a single optical element almost without hardly making the optical performance deteriorate.
An optical element 13 which has power in the subscanning direction of the optical scanner has spherical portions 13a and 13b, including an optical axis at their centers, outside a light beam region, and are provided with columnar portions 13c and 13d, including an axis M which passes through the centers of the spherical portions 13a and 13b and is orthogonal to the optical axis center and the main scanning direction at their centers, outside a light beam area in the main scanning direction. A housing 90 supports the spherical portions 13a and 13b of the optical element 13 by a V-shaped support portion 90e, and also supports the columnar portions 13c and 13d of the optical element 13 by the columnar support portions 90f and 90g in the subscanning direction.
