Abstract:
PURPOSE:To allow the conversion of a resolution with high accuracy by providing a driving means for turning a plate member in a sub-scanning direction, a detecting means for detecting the diameter of a light beam and a control means for changing the diameter of the light beam by controlling the energization to the driving means. CONSTITUTION:The beam diameter on the surface of a photosensitive drum is changed to change the resolution by utilizing the change in the diameter of the light beam past an exit port 65a by an aperture 60 which inclines by receiving force from the magnetic fields by yokes 53 to 55 and permanent magnets 57, 58 when the coil of the aperture 60 is energized. Namely, the light beam emitted form the beam exit port 65a is detected by the detecting means 74 and the control means 76 controls the energization to the driving means, thereby changing the diameter of the light beam emitted from the beam exit port 65a. The diameter is surely changed to the specified diameter of the light beam in this way. The conversion of the resolution with the high accuracy is thus executed.
