PURPOSE: To provide an optical semiconductor device composed of an optical semiconductor module having a photoelectric transducer photocoupled with an optical fiber and printed interconnection board provided with specified circuits which facilitates the connection work of the module to the interconnection board and allows the device to be small.
CONSTITUTION: A case 30 has a square notch 32 at the side wall 31, a printed interconnection board 20 has a through-hole 25 to connect a connector 24 to leads 55 of an optical semiconductor module 50 having an insulator block 60 which has a groove 65 at the side wall so that the side wall of the notch 32 is fitted into it and square recess 61 into which the connector 24 of the board 20 is fitted. The leads 55 are insert-molded in the block 60; one end being connected to the electrode of a photoelectric transducer 1 through a bonding wire and the other protrudent into the recess 61 and compression-welded to the land 26 of the hole 25.
