Title:
OPTICAL SOLITON TRANSMISSION METHOD
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3185843
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PURPOSE: To suppress a shift of an own frequency of an optical soliton and fluctuation in the arrival time by providing an amplification action to a transmission optical fiber, inserting an optical intensity modulator in a transmission line and inserting a band pass optical filter in the transmission line.
CONSTITUTION: An optical soliton generator 1 generates an optical soliton train A and propagates the pulse train via a transmission optical fiber 2. The optical fiber 2 receives the supply of energy by a stimulated light B from a stimulation optical source 8. Since the wavelength of the optical soliton is changed by the shift of own frequency attended with propagation, an optical filter 4 is inserted to positions of the fiber 2 at an interval of some distance. The decrease in the intensity of the optical soliton is compensated by an optical amplifier 8 through the insertion of the optical filters 4. Furthermore, an optical modulator 5 is inserted to the optical fiber 2 at an interval equivalent to each of some propagation distance. In this case, a clock signal extract section 6 extracts a clock signal to make the phase of a modulated frequency signal with a phase of the optical soliton train based on the clock signal.
