PURPOSE: To eliminate the abrasion of a head, the toutch of a head and a crrosstalk and to obtain an potical storage device eliminating the need for a rotary transformer by recording and reproducing the information via a required optical system into a tape information medium in non-contact through the beams of light.

CONSTITUTION: A laser beam emitting element 4 is driven by a signal input through a modulator 12, a tape-shaped medium 1 wound on a fixed cylinder 2 is irradiated with a laser beam via such an optical system as a beam splitter 6, a focussing lens 7, a reflecting mirror 8 rotated by a motor 9 and the signal input is recorded on the medium 1. In the same way, the laser beam medium 1 moves reversely via the same optical system and received by a light receiving element 11 and a regenerative signal is outputted as a signal output 16 via a demodulator 13. By such constitution eliminating a head, the abrasion of the head, the toutch of the head and the crosstalk are eliminated and the optical storage device eliminating the need for the rotary transformer is obtained.
