Abstract:
PURPOSE:To suppress high voltages generated by an optical submarine cable which is wound in a coil shape by providing a core member made of a magnetic body in a cable storage part and winding the core member with the optical submarine cable in a differential connection state. CONSTITUTION:The core member 11 made of the magnetic body is put in the cable storage part 10 and then wound with the optical submarine cable in the differential connection state. Namely, one column part 11a is wound (A) with the optical submarine cable 12 by a constant distance and the other column part 11b is wound with the optical submarine cable 12 by the same distance with the 1st (A); and the two column parts are wound with the optical submarine cable repeatedly and alternately and the respective cable winding parts A-F are connected differentially in series. Therefore, magnetic fields produced with a fed current cancel each other and even if the fed current varies abruptly, no large electromotive force is produced. Consequently, even if the fed current varies abruptly owing to the breaking of the cable, etc., due to artificial wrong operation or a mechanical fault no large electromotive force is produced, thereby preventing equipment from being damaged and an personal accident from occurring.
