PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To give an instruction to standby system OSU to operate instead of normal system OSU where abnormality occurs when occurrence of the abnormality in the normal system OSU is detected and to inform the standby system OSU that it should use a waveform that the normal system OSU has used.SOLUTION: In an optical subscriber system, a plurality of ONU 92 and single OLT 91 are connected by PON topology. In the optical subscriber system, OLT 91 includes: normal system OSU for performing transmission/reception with ONU 92; a common monitoring control section 14 for stopping power supply to the normal system OSU where abnormality occurs or stopping light emission of a down signal and gives a switching instruction to standby system OSU so that transmission and reception are performed with ONU 92 by using a wavelength used in the normal system OSU when abnormality occurs in the normal system OSU which performs transmission/reception with ONU 92; and the standby system OSU for performing transmission/reception with ONU 92 by using the waveform used in the normal system OSU with the switching instruction from the common monitoring control section 14 as a trigger.
