PURPOSE: To obtain an optical system, specially a relay lens system by which high resolution can be obtained even when an image pickup element for an electronic camera obtained by combining an image pickup lens system and the relay lens system is miniaturized as for a composite camera obtained by combining a still photographing camera and the electronic camera.
CONSTITUTION: This is the composite camera constituted so that an equivalent image surface equivalently positioned to the image surface of a photographing lens system 11 is provided at the back part of the lens system 11, a condenser lens 15 is arranged near the equivalent image surface and the relay lens system 17 reforming the image of the lens system 11 on the image pickup element 18 is provided at the back part of the lens 15. Then, the expressions of -0.1<P<0.09 and S3<0 are satisfied by the lens system 17. Provided that P is the Petzval's sum of the whole system of a relay lens and S3 is the astigmatism coefficient of the whole system of the relay lens when the focal distance of the lens system 17 is converted into 1.0.
