To provide an optical system for measuring the amount of abrasion wear of a trolley wire, which can be mounted in business-use cars from the Shinkansen to subways broadly, and lower a device height.
In this optical system for measuring the amount of the abrasion wear of the trolley wire, an arrangement is so made that a polygon mirror 2 rotates on a horizontal plane, a concave mirror 3 receives light on a center line corresponding to a predetermined horizontal plane and reflects it towards a side lower than the predetermined horizontal plane, a mirror (reflecting mirror) 4 receives its reflected light on a side upper than the lower one of the installation faces of a laser light source and the polygon mirror, and generates reflected light reflected towards the side of the trolley wire. Consequently, the height of the measuring optical system of an abrasion wear measuring device for trolley wire can be suppressed practically up to a higher one of the height of the polygon mirror and that of the concave mirror, when the installation face of either the concave mirror or polygon mirror is considered as a reference.
