The sample migrated electrophoretically in a separation flow passage 6 is irradiated with light emitted from a tip of an optical fiber 14, after passing through a light converging part 13. The converging part 13 comprises the first nonspherical cylindrical face 10 convexed toward an optical fiber 14 side, the second nonspherical cylindrical face 11 convexed toward an opposite side of the first nonspherical cylindrical face 10, and the third nonspherical cylindrical face 12 convexed toward the second nonspherical cylindrical face 11. The first-third nonspherical cylindrical faces 10-12 are arranged in order from the optical fiber 14 side toward the separation flow passage 6. The light emitted from the optical fiber 14 is converged by the first-third nonspherical cylindrical faces 10-12, and the sample migrated electrophoretically is irradiated with the converged light.
