To provide an optical transceiver and an optical transmission system, for sufficiently reducing the occurrence of four-wave mixed light even at a relatively long transmission distance.
The optical transceiver is provided with a transmitter 2 for outputting a wavelength multiplexed optical signal including a plurality of wavelengths belonging to a prescribed wavelength band, and a receiver 12 for receiving the wavelength multiplexed optical signal to transmit and receive an optical signal to/from an external device through an optical fiber 24. It has a dispersion compensator 10 for generating a second wavelength multiplexed optical signal obtained by adding a first dispersion amount to a first wavelength multiplexed optical signal outputted from the transmitter 2 and outputting the second wavelength multiplexed optical signal to the optical fiber 24. It is provided with a dispersion compensator 20 for generating another wavelength multiplexed optical signal obtained by compensating wavelength dispersion of the wavelength multiplexed optical signal from the optical fiber 24 and outputting a fourth wavelength multiplexed optical signal to the receiver 12. The dispersion compensator 20 adds the first dispersion amount for compensating a dispersion amount corresponding to the first dispersion amount to a third wavelength multiplexed optical signal.
