Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain fault diagnosis simply and effectively by providing a switch short-circuiting a transmission line and a reception line of a transceiver cable in an optical transceiver. CONSTITUTION:A switch 6 short-circuiting a transmission line (TX line) and a reception line (RX line) of a transceiver cable 4 is provided at least in an optical transceiver 2. The switch 6 is changed over at fault diagnosis to short- circuit the TX line and the RX line of the transceiver cable so as to open the TX line of the transceiver cable and an electrooptic converter 7 and the optical electric converter 8 and the RX line of the transceiver cable. Since a loop back circuit is formed between a terminal equipment 1 and the optical transceiver 2, a test signal is sent from the terminal equipment 1 in this state and the signal returned from the terminal equipment 1 is monitored. Thus, the failure diagnosis is applied simply and effectively.
