Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow an optical transmitter capable of detecting the disconnection of an internal circuit to be quickly activated to start transmission without erroneously detecting disconnection from cold start.SOLUTION: An optical transmitter 1 includes: a parallel circuit 10f consisting of an optical modulation element 10b and a terminal resistance 10c; a drive circuit 20 for driving the parallel circuit 10f; a temperature detector 10d for detecting the temperature of the optical modulation element 10b; and an abnormality detection circuit 30 for detecting the abnormality of wiring connecting the drive circuit 20 to the parallel circuit 10f. The abnormality detection circuit 30 receives information related to the temperature detected by the temperature detector 10d, and sets a determination voltage to a predetermined value in accordance with the temperature of the optical modulation element 10b, and compares the voltage of a detection point P set on the wiring with the determination voltage to detect the abnormality of wiring.
