To provide an inexpensive optical transmitter having high light-utilization efficiency for a light transmitting medium in which each of a plurality of incident parts has a slope, and also to provide an optical module and an optical transmission system using the same.
The light transmitting medium 10A has an incident part 12 composed of a slope at its one end and exiting parts 11A-11C at the other end with a step part composed of a slope at prescribed intervals. On the upper face of the incident part 12, a cylindrical lens 13 is installed. When a signal light is made incident on the cylindrical lens 13, the signal light is refracted in the longitudinal direction of the light transmitting medium 10A and reflected on the slope of the incident part 12, propagates to the exiting parts 11A-11C and exits from the exiting parts 11A-11C to the outside of the light transmitting medium 10. As a result, the light utilization efficiency can be enhanced in the optical transmitter 1.
