To enhance transmission quality by suppressing interaction between stimulation lights due to nonlinear optical phenomenon, e.g. stimulated Raman scattering or four light wave mixing, thereby performing Raman amplification efficiently.
A stimulation control section 10 comprises a stimulation pulse light generating section 20, and an incidence control section 30 wherein the stimulation pulse light generating section 20 generates a plurality of stimulation pulse lights having wavelengths different from each other. The incidence control section 30 controls the order of incidence such that the difference of wavelength between adjacent stimulation pulse lights is minimized and controls the time interval between stimulation pulse lights such that a plurality of stimulation lights do not exist simultaneously at one point of an optical amplification medium F before the stimulation pulse light impinges on the optical amplification medium F.
