Title:
OPTICAL TRANSMITTER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP2001237773
Kind Code:
A
Abstract:

To notify that an improper signal is being emitted from a laser diode.

This optical transmitter is provided with a line receiver 14, connected via a coaxial cable 13 and a capacitor C to a line driver 12, a laser diode LD for operating light transmission, and a drive circuit 15 for driving the laser diode LD by receiving the output of the line receiver 14 and for controlling the bias current of the laser diode LD, so that the mean value of optical signals outputted from the laser diode LD can be turned into a prescribed value. In this case, offset is applied to the reference voltage of the line receiver 14, and the output, when an input signal is interrupted, is turned into a low level.
