PURPOSE: To realize the optical transmitter sending information between devices such as AV equipment through the use of an optical signal in which the state of a space through which an optical signal propagates and a fault at a receiver side due to disturbance in the optical signal is reduced.
CONSTITUTION: An optical interrupt detection circuit 4 using a light receiving element 3 to receive an optical signal being a continuous light from a light emitting element 8 detects equivalently the state of an information transmission space by the optical signal from a light emitting element 2 to a light receiving element 6. A transmission section 5 controls lighting/stop of the light emitting element 2 by using a control circuit 1 based on an output of the optical interrupt detection circuit 4. A reception section 10 uses the light emitting element 8 to stimulate a continuous light and decides that a mute circuit 7 outputs it as a reception signal in response to an output of the light receiving element 6 or the circuit 7 stops the output.
