Abstract:

PURPOSE: To improve thermal stability and the adhesive property to a recording layer by subjecting the surface of a thermoplastic resin substrate consisting of PMMA, PC, etc., to a plasma treatment in the presence of gaseous ammonia, thereby three-dimensionally crosslinking the surface layer.

CONSTITUTION: The surface of the thermoplastic resin substrate consisting of the polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA), polycarbonate (PC), etc., is subjected to the plasma treatment in the presence of the gaseous ammonia, by which the substrate surface is three-dimensionally crosslinked and the amino group is introduced into the surface. The thermal stability of the rugged shape on the signal recording surface to heat mode recording and erasing by laser light is improved in this way and the adhesive property to the recording layer is improved by the amino group. The recording, reproducing and erasing characteristics are stabilized over a long period of time.
