Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide component in that light elements are surface-integrated to achieve low loss in optical coupling with a waveguide.SOLUTION: An optical waveguide component includes: a board 203 including an optical waveguide comprising an under clad 202a, a core 201, and an over clad 202b; a microlens 206 formed on the surface of the over clad; and a mirror 204 provided on an inclination surface inclined to a vertical direction of the board while crossing a propagation direction of signal light in the core, namely a mirror for converting an optical path of signal light from the core to the microlens or from the microlens to the core. The microlens is formed by forming a columnar projection having a larger refractive index than that of the over clad on the over clad before annealing treatment.
