Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical waveguide device having such a structure that can be optically coupled to a multicore optical fiber and facilitates positioning and angle alignment of the multicore optical fiber.SOLUTION: In the optical waveguide device, a first structure and a second structure 29 for supporting a multicore optical fiber receive a multicore optical fiber. When a multicore optical fiber is supported by an 11-th side face 27a, a 12-th side face 27b, a 21-st side face 29a, and a 22-th side face 29b, a fiber end face of the multicore optical fiber opposes to a first end face 21a of a planar waveguide structure 21. By rotating the multicore optical fiber around a first axis between the first structure and the second structure 29, the fiber can be positioned in regard of an angle around the axis. By the positioning, the end face of the multicore optical fiber can be optically coupled to optical waveguides 25a to 25h at the first end face 21a of the planar waveguide structure 21.
