Abstract:
PURPOSE:To attain accurate positioning by abutting the light incident end face of an optical waveguide on the light projection end face of a semiconductor laser and mounting an optical waveguide base on the smoothed face of a heat sink so that the optical waveguide formation side main face of the base is abutted on the smoothed face. CONSTITUTION:The optical-waveguide base 4 having the optical waveguide 1 is mounted on the smoothed face 3a of the heat sink 3 so that the main face 4a on the formation side of the waveguide l is abutted on the smoothed face 3a. The light incident end face of the base 4 is abutted and stuck on/to the light projection end face, i.e., a divided face, of the laser 2. Since the z-axis direction and y-axis direction of the base 4, i.e., that of the waveguide 1, are regulated in respect to the x, y and z axes intersecting orthogonally with each other, the directions of rotation thetaz around the z axis, rotation thetay around the y axis and rotation thetax around the x axis are regulated. Thereby the laser 2 and the base 4 can be accurately positioned only by setting up the x-axis direction.
