Abstract:

To provide an optical waveguide and an optical waveguide structure which has excellent heat resistance and low water-absorbing property and whose material cost is low.

The optical waveguide structure 9 has: the optical waveguide 90 having a core layer 93 composed of core portions 94 and cladding portions 95 having a lower refractive index than the core portions 94, and cladding layers 91, 92 disposed in contact with both faces of the core layer 93 and having a lower refractive index than the core portions 94; and conductor layers 901, 902 disposed on both faces of the optical waveguide 90, wherein the cladding layers 91, 92 are formed using a norbornene-based polymer as a main material.
