Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical wavelength filter which is simple in construction, does not require special materials and parts and facilitates design and manufacture.
SOLUTION: This optical wavelength filter consists of a multimode waveguide 11 of a plane type having a specified refractive index and specified width, at least one input waveguides 12 connected to the incident surface of the multimode waveguide 11 and at least one output waveguides 13 connected to the exit face of the multimode waveguide 11. These waveguides are so arranged that the light of the specific wavelength inputted from the input optical waveguides 12 is coupled to the output waveguides 15 via the multimode waveguide 11.
