To provide an optical writing type display medium having enhanced light resistance, and also to provide an optical writing type display device.
The optical writing type display medium 100 includes: an optical switching layer 3 having a layered structure of a lower charge generating layer 3C/a charge transporting layer 3B/an upper charge generating layer 3A sequentially from a side of irradiation with writing light; and a display layer 7 having memory properties. The upper and lower charge generating layers 3A and 3C contain a phthalocyanine pigment as a charge generating material, and the charge transporting layer 3B contains a stilbene compound represented by a general formula (1) (each of R1 to R4 denotes a hydrogen atom, a methyl group or an ethyl group) as a charge transporting material.
