PURPOSE: To assure high luminance and high-fineness image display which are the characteristics of the optical writing type light valve by minimizing the image deterioration by spreading of reproduced images to adjacent pixels and overlap of blurs, etc.
CONSTITUTION: This optical writing type light valve consists of a pair of light transparent substrates 1, 1' facing each other, a writing limitation mask 3, flattening layer 4, transparent electrode 2, photoconductor layer 5, light shielding layer 6, dielectric mirror 7 and liquid crystal oriented film 10 successively formed on the inner side surface of the light transparent substrate 1, a transparent electrode 2' and liquid crystal oriented film 10' successively formed on the inner side surface of the light transparent substrate 1', an optical modulation layer 8 sealed between the liquid crystal oriented films 10, 10', spacers 9 for regulating the thickness of the optical modulation layer 8 and an antireflection film 11 formed on the outer side surface of the light transparent substrate 1'.
