Abstract:

To provide a method for synthesizing an optically active dicarboxylic acid derivative.

The method for synthesizing an optically active dicarboxylic acid derivative comprises allowing an α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compound and a compound formable of an enolate to react with each other in the presence of a catalyst constituted of a pyridine derivative having 4-phenyloxazolin-2-yl groups on the 2-position and the 6-position thereof respectively and an alkaline earth metal salt such as calcium ethoxide, whereby an optically active dicarboxylic acid derivative such as a 2-alkylpentane dicarboxylic acid derivative can efficiently be synthesized at a high yield with high enantioselectivity.
