Abstract:
NEW MATERIAL:The compound of formula I, II, III or IV (Ph is phenyl; R1 is 1W4C alkyl; R2 is H, 1W10C alkyl or 6W10C aryl; X is -O- or -S-; Z is H, 1W10C alkyl or metal).
EXAMPLE: (1R,2S)-2-ethoxycarbonylmethylamino-1-phenyl-propanol.
USE: Useful as a reaction reagent for asymmetric synthesis, especially as a separation agent for optical resolution of a recemic compound.
PREPARATION: The compound of formula I, II, III or IV can be produced by alkylating an optically active isomer of erythro-2-amino-1-phenyl-1-propanol (norephedrine) with a carbomethylation agent and converting the ester part to a metal salt with sodium hydroxide, etc.
