Abstract:
PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an improved IOL, hardly having adverse effect of aberration resulting from mismatch of an embedded IOL to a cornea and/or inherent aberration of the eye on the optical performance of a lens and attaining more reliable optical performance.SOLUTION: The present invention comprises an optic lens with an anterior surface and a posterior surface, which presents a shape factor (defined as a ratio of the sum of the anterior and posterior curvatures to the difference of the two curvatures) in a range of about -0.5 to about 4. In a related aspect, the shape factor of the optic lens lies in a range of about 0 to about 2. The shape factors effect a plurality of different lens shapes, such as concave-convex, plano-convex, and plano-concave.
