Abstract:
To provide an aircraft with an optimal trajectory to proceed on a flight path according to the optimal trajectory.SOLUTION: A method for optimization of a vertical flight path comprises; generating a plurality of way points; calculating a number of unique trajectories available on the basis of the plurality of way points; in response to determination that the number of unique trajectories is more than a threshold number of trajectories, executing probabilistic assessment of the unique trajectories to identify an elite set of trajectories including those trajectories having an efficiency metrics within an upper range of a set of assessed trajectories; identifying a mobile way point in trajectories of the elite set of trajectories; executing a global optimal path assessment in which positions of the mobile way point are adjusted within an associated trajectory to identify an optimal trajectory for the aircraft on the flight path; and providing the optimal trajectory to the aircraft to proceed on the flight path according to the optimal trajectory.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 1
