Title:
OPTOMETER
Document Type and Number:
Japanese Patent JP3953977
Kind Code:
B2
Abstract:

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optometer capable of performing a test for near sight more precisely than a conventional optometer.
SOLUTION: The optometer has a pair of left and right lens chamber units with test windows, and an optical element for testing the refraction is switched and disposed on each test window to test the refraction of an examined eye subjectively. The optometer also has a convergence angle determining means for determining the convergence angle of the left and right lens chamber units by a convergence means based on inputted interpupillary distance, and a control means for driving/controlling a convergence angle varying means based on the determined convergence angle. The convergence angle determining means determines the convergence angle so that the optical axis of the optical element and the optic axis of the examined eye are superimposed when the interpupillary distance is at least a prescribed distance. When the interpupillary distance is shorter than the prescribed distance, the left and right lens chamber units are converged, and the convergence angle is determined so that the mechanical contact between the left and right lens chamber units is avoided.
