PURPOSE: To examine both eyes of a person to be examined by an examiner from the side by his favorite eye by providing a holding means holding removably a mirror on the visual axis on which the person to be examined sees a visual target through an examination window placed by recombining optical elements such as lens.

CONSTITUTION: A combination of required optical characteristics is selected from optical elements such as various lenses built in an optometry apparatus main body 1 and is placed on an examination window 2. A fixing plate 3 of a mirror 4 is rotatably fixed on a supporting base 5 and the supporting base 5 is removably fixed on a bar on which a near visual target is fixed with a knob 6. The angle of the mirror 4 is variable to the fixing plate 3 in such a way that the reflected image of eyes to be examined are visible from the side. The person 11 to be examined sees surely a visual target 12 with his right eye and an examiner 13 examines the left eye of the person 11 to be examined from the side with his favorite right eye by utilizing a retinoscope 10. After examination of the left eye is finished, the mirror fixing plate 3 is rotated to the supporting base 5 and the mirror fixing plate 3 and the mirror 4 are placed at the front of the right eye of the person to be examined and the right eye is examined by the same favorite eye. An accurate and rapid optometry can be performed thereby.
