Abstract:
PURPOSE: To obtain a safe composition for oral cavity, comprising gem- diphosphonate polymer component, useful for inhibiting formation of tartar and plaque and having good long term preservation stability. CONSTITUTION: This composition for oral cavity includes 0.1-20wt.%, especially 1-5wt.% gem-diphosphonate polymer containing a combination of monomer units of formulas I [R1 , R2 , Ra and Rb are each H, CO2 H or its ester, CN, PO3 H2 , an aryl, a 1-10C alkyl or a 1-20C oxyalkyl; R3 is H, OH, NH2 , a 1-3C alkyl; (m) is 0 or 1; Q is an aryl or a 1-10C alkylene; mol ratio of (a/b) is 0-30, preferably 0-20], II and III (X is H or a 1-10C alkyl; when X is an alkyl, PO3 X2 is converted to PO3 H2 ), having 1,000-20,000, preferably 2,000-5,000 average molecular weight and further having at least three gem-diphosphonate unit per polymer chain, and a pharmaceutically permissible carrier.
