Abstract:
To provide a treatment system that is used when a user is awake and continuously reduces an irregular respiratory pattern during sleep.SOLUTION: A transmucosal neuromuscular electrical stimulation device comprises a mouthpiece (103), electrode means (133a) associated with the mouthpiece, and an electrical circuit component operably connected to the electrode means (133a). The mouthpiece comprises a pair of arms (131) coupled together at one end. The pair of arms branches from each other, comprises at least one flange (133) extended inwards from at least one arm, and has a shape cooperating with, similar to, or matching with a sublingual surface. The at least one flange comprises electrode means associated with the mouthpiece. At the time of being used, the electrode means applies electric stimulation to one or more tongue muscles through the sublingual surface via the electrode means to enhance resting muscle tension and/or sleep-time muscle tension.SELECTED DRAWING: Figure 10
